Editing Historical Meter Readings (Aircraft Times)
This article explains how to edit existing meter readings, update individual meter values, and delete erroneous entries.
There are situations where you may need to correct or backdate meter readings for an aircraft — whether due to entry errors, post-maintenance audits, or late submission of flight logs. EBIS provides tools to safely edit historical readings while preserving data accuracy and compliance.
This article explains how to edit existing readings by date, how to update individual meter values, and how to delete erroneous entries.
Editing Meter Readings from a Specific Date
If an aircraft reading was entered incorrectly for a previous date, you can overwrite the reading for that specific date directly from the Aircraft record.
How to Edit a Past Reading:
- Go to Modules > Aircraft and select the aircraft.
- Click into the Readings tab.
- Click into the Meter Reading entry record.
- Adjust the relevant meter values (e.g., Hobbs, Tach, Flight Time).
- Click Save.
⚠️ If a reading already exists for the selected date, updating it will overwrite the original values. Be sure this is intentional.
Editing Individual Meter Reading Values
If only one value (e.g., Tach) was incorrect while others were valid, you can selectively edit that single field.
Steps:
- Follow the same process above to open the reading for a specific date OR:
- From the Readings tab, locate the meter value you wish to change in the list view.
- Click directly on that value to open a quick-edit window.
- Adjust the value as needed and click Save.
- Only update the specific field — leave others unchanged.
Deleting a Meter Reading Record
If a reading was entered in error and must be removed entirely:
- Navigate to the Readings tab for the aircraft.
- Click into the Meter Reading entry record.
- Click Meter Options in the top right and select Delete.
- Confirm the deletion.
⚠️ This action is permanent and should only be used when the reading is clearly invalid (e.g., duplicate entry, wrong aircraft).
Best Practices
- Only modify past readings when absolutely necessary.
- Document the reason for changes in the Notes field when possible.
- Re-run compliance reports or verify logbook entries after editing meter history.
