How to repurpose your RII Sign-off with EBIS 5
RII | Required Inspection Items
If you require the use of RII Inspections this article is not for you.
RII Definition & FAA References
RII Definition: A designation of the items of maintenance and alteration that must be inspected (required inspections) including at least those that could result in a failure, malfunction, or defect endangering the safe operation of the aircraft, if not performed properly or if improper parts or materials are used.
You might be one of the General Aviation Maintenance shops out there who do not typically encounter or work on Items / Tasks / Squawks / etc. that require RII's but maybe think it would be nice to customize your Work Flows by repurposing the built in RII functionality.
Configuring Item Signoffs
Please view the article on W/O Item Signoffs if you are unfamiliar with overall Item Signoff configurations. For the purpose of this article we will be no longer utilizing the default RII Inspection by creating a new signoff called "RTS" for a Return to Service Item Signoff.
EBIS 5 Path:
Config > Admin > Lists > Work Order > Item Signoffs > (+)
Which Signoff is the RII?
Good Question! Since you can customize the name of your individual Item Signoffs among other things, how do you know which one is considered the RII? This is decided at the Cities Level.
EBIS 5 Path:
Config > Admin > Cities > Select a City > Options > Work Orders > RII item signoff
All you have to do is select which Item Signoff from the list will be considered the RII Inspection (The RII Inspection is a Signoff you enable on an Item-by-item basis within EBIS 5)
Renamed "Enable RII Inspection" selector switch on Work Order Items
EBIS 5 Path:
Work Order > Select a W/O > Items > Item Details > Enable "______"
The new Item Signoff now designated as the RII will overwrite the "Enable RII Inspection" selector toggle switch on Work Order Items as seen below
