Managing Log Book Categories for a Meter Profile

This article explains how to view, add, remove, and configure default logbook categories tied to a Meter Profile.

In EBIS, Log Book Categories help organize the types of entries and certifications that appear on printed logbooks. By linking Log Book Categories to a Meter Profile, you ensure that relevant logbook types are easily accessible (or automatically associated) when creating Work Order items.

This article explains how to view, add, remove, and configure default logbook categories tied to a Meter Profile.

What Are Log Book Categories?

Log Book Categories define the types of logbook entries that can be generated for maintenance actions — such as:

  • Airframe
  • Engine 1, 2, 3
  • Propeller
  • Avionics

These categories help ensure that entries appear under appropriate headers on printed logbooks.

 

Accessing Log Book Categories for a Meter Profile

  1. Go to Config > Meter Profiles.
  2. Click into a specific profile.
  3. Navigate to the Log Books tab.

This tab shows a list of categories currently associated with the profile.

 

Adding a Log Book Category to a Meter Profile

  1. Click "+ Add Logbook Category".
  2. Select the desired category from the dropdown.
  3. (Optional) Toggle "Default on New Work Order Items" if you want this category to be pre-selected for new W/O items.
  4. Click Add and Close.

💡 Toggling "Default on New W/O Items" means this Log Book Category will automatically appear when adding new items to a Work Order tied to this Meter Profile.

 

Removing a Log Book Category from a Meter Profile

To remove one or more categories:

  1. Check the box next to each category to delete.
  2. Click the Delete button at the top right.

This will remove the category from the profile but will not affect any historical logbook entries already created.

 

Viewing the Impact

Once categories are configured for a Meter Profile:

  • They appear as available selections when adding new Work Order items
  • They determine which logbook headers are used when generating entries
  • They streamline compliance with maintenance documentation standards

 

Managing the List of Available Log Book Categories

The dropdown list of available Log Book Categories can be configured globally for your system.

To add, rename, or delete Log Book Categories:

  1. Go to Config > Lists.
  2. Click on the Log Book Categories tab.
  3. From here, you can:
    1. Click "+ Add" to create a new category
    2. Click into an existing category to rename it
    3. Use the trash icon to delete any unused category

⚠️ Changes made here apply system-wide and will impact all Meter Profiles where the category is referenced.
