Aircraft Module Fields, Definitions & Config Settings

This article provides an overview of the fields and configurable options available in the Aircraft module, as well as relevant user permissions.

The Aircraft Module in EBIS serves as the foundation for linking aircraft to work orders, tracking meter readings, managing compliance, and applying billing/tax overrides.

This guide provides a reference-style overview of the fields and configurable options available in the module, as well as relevant user permissions.

Aircraft Module Fields and Definitions

Field Definition
Registration Number The tail number used to identify the aircraft
Make / Model / Specification Hierarchical structure for defining aircraft (e.g., Cessna > 172 > 172S)
Year The manufacturing year of the aircraft
Serial Number Unique serial number assigned to the aircraft by the manufacturer
Customer The primary customer associated with the aircraft
Primary City Default location for operations or billing
Avg. Daily Utilization Impacts how EBIS calculates upcoming compliance dates based on meter usage
Aircraft Class Custom field to group similar aircraft types (e.g., Jet, Piston Single, Rotorcraft)
Fuel Code Internal code to designate the fuel type (e.g., AVGAS, Jet A)
User Status Used to indicate special status for filtering or sorting (e.g., VIP, Demo, Inactive)
Fleet Config Override Overrides the default spec to pull fleet-level settings like Parts Catalog or Media
Parts Catalog Override Links the aircraft to a different parts catalog
Billing Override Enables unique billing profiles for labor/parts/OSR/etc. specific to this aircraft
Tax Override Custom tax rules for this aircraft (standard, fluctuating, dual rate)
Contract Pricing Allows department-specific labor rates to be set for this aircraft
PO Stock Room Override Used for internal/"Shop" aircraft to auto-direct PO receiving to a specific stockroom
Cylinder Compression Tracking Enabled via Meter Profile, used for engine health monitoring

Aircraft Module Config Settings and Options

You can configure Aircraft-related dropdowns and settings from Config > Lists. The following lists fall under the "Aircraft" section:

  • Aircraft Class
  • Fuel Code
  • User Status
  • Makes
  • Models (linked to Makes)
  • Specifications (linked to Make/Model combos)

🛠️ Specifications allow greater granularity without creating duplicate models.

To configure these:

  1. Go to Config > Lists
  2. Scroll to the Aircraft section
  3. Select the list (e.g., Models) and click the + icon to add new entries

Additionally, Fleet Configs can be accessed from Config > Fleet, where you define maintenance templates, parts catalogs, and media files tied to a specific Make/Model/Spec combination.

Relevant User Permissions for Aircraft Module Management

User access is controlled via Config > User Profiles > Access Levels, grouped under tabs like Aircraft, Meter Readings, Compliance, etc. Common aircraft-related permissions include:

Under the Aircraft Tab:

  • Add – Allows adding new aircraft
  • Edit – Allows editing existing aircraft records
  • Change Registration Number – Update the tail number
  • Edit Billing Rates – Modify billing overrides
  • Edit Tax Info – Modify tax override settings
  • Edit Detail – Modify fields in the "Detail" tab (certs, licenses, etc.)
  • Add/Edit/Delete Media – Manage aircraft media files
  • Inactive/Delete – Mark an aircraft as inactive or delete it
  • Edit Cylinder Compression History – Manage cylinder compression data (when enabled in Meter Profile)
  • Change Meter Profile – Allows reassigning a different Meter Profile to an aircraft

Under the Compliance Tab:

  • View, Add, Edit, Delete Compliance Items
  • Copy Compliance Items to other aircraft
  • Manage inspections, inspection history, and reporting

Under the Work Orders Tab:

  • Create Aircraft-Based Work Orders
  • Import Third-Party Task Lists (e.g., Traxxall, CAMP, WingWork, Veryon)

Under the Customer Tab:

  • Add/Remove aircraft links from a customer profile

Under the Meter Readings Tab:

  • Add/Edit/Delete Meter Readings
  • Batch Update Meter Readings
  • Override Validation / Add New Meter
  • View/Edit Logbook Categories

Additional Configuration Options

  • Cylinder Tracking: Enabled in the Meter Profile under Config > Meter Profiles > Options
  • Continued Items Settings: Define default status and behavior for deferred work (Config > All City Options > Work Order Defaults)

⚠️ Some settings like Compliance Management and Meter Profile editing are restricted to Advanced Access Users (AAU).
