Compliance Module Configuration Settings (Maintenance Tracking)

This article outlines the key settings admins should be aware of when configuring and managing the Compliance Module.

To get the most out of the Compliance Module in EBIS, it's important to understand which configuration settings control user access, system behavior, and available dropdown options.

This article outlines the key settings admins should be aware of when configuring and managing the Compliance Module.

User Access and Permissions

Compliance functionality is restricted based on user roles. Only users with an Advanced Access User (AAU) profile can:

  • Create and edit Compliance Items
  • Import Compliance Items in bulk
  • Manage compliance completion from Work Orders
  • Add/edit historical inspections

Access Configuration:

Go to Config > User Profiles > [Profile Name] > Access Levels > Compliance tab

Permissions include:

  • View – View compliance records
  • Add / Edit / Delete – Manage compliance items
  • Copy to Another Asset – Copy compliance items between aircraft
  • Add/Edit/Delete Media – Manage documents (e.g., 8130s) tied to compliance items
  • Add Inspection / Add Inspection (Historical) – Log current or backdated inspection records
  • Delete Inspections – Remove compliance history
  • Manage on Work Order – Add items from Compliance tab on W.O.
  • Export – Export compliance data
  • Reports – View compliance-related reports
  • Update from Work Order – Update compliance records with completion data

Compliance Type and System Type

Configure your Compliance Types under: Config > Lists > Compliance Type

Each Compliance Type must have a:

  • Name – e.g., Airframe, Engine, Avionics
  • System Type – Component or Inspection (controls available fields and tracking behavior)
  • Reporting Type – Affects which report(s) the item appears on (e.g., Airframe, Engine, Inspection)

⚠️ System Type determines which fields are available on the Compliance item. Choose carefully based on what you plan to track.

Custom Dropdowns for Item Fields

Custom options for Compliance Items can be configured in Config > Lists, including:

  • Compliance Action – Options for what action is required (e.g., Inspect, Replace, Clean)
  • Compliance Inspection – Options for the "Inspection Type" field (e.g., AD, SB, Inspection)
  • Compliance Item Type – Optional classification label for organizing items

Import Settings for Compliance Items

Admins can import Compliance Items in bulk using: Config > Import Data > Import Type: Compliance

Ensure these settings are configured first:

  • Tail numbers (reg numbers) exist for all aircraft in the import
  • Compliance Types and actions in the spreadsheet match the options in your config
  • Interval fields match the System Type (e.g., use interval_hours for Component items, inspect_interval_hours for Inspection items)

📘 Refer to the Creating New Compliance Items article for full import guidance and common errors.

Managing Compliance Completion from Work Orders

Users with proper access can update compliance completion dates from within a Work Order:

  • Navigate to the W.O.'s Compliance tab
  • Click Manage Completion Dates to enter new compliance completion info

This behavior is controlled by the "Update from Work Order" setting in the user profile.

💡 When enabled, this lets you complete compliance items directly from the W.O. without editing the Compliance Item itself.

Meter Profile Considerations

Since usage-based compliance intervals depend on meter readings, ensure the user has access to configure and manage those as needed:

Go to User Profiles > Select a User > Access Levels > Meter Readings tab to enable:

  • Add/Edit/Delete readings
  • Override validations
  • Change Meter Profiles
  • Batch Update permissions

⚠️ If a reading doesn’t exist for a compliance item’s Start/Install Date, interval calculations may fail or return inaccurate values.
